Shetani had wandered away from her claimed lands for a bit of a break and possibly even recruitment. It had been a nice long while since she'd gotten away from the grungy, pavement that was in the Downtown to take a stroll along the beach. The only downside to being on the beach was the fact that sand muffled pawsteps and now she had to depend more on her sense of smell which wasn't too hard. Anything other than salt water, sea bird, and sand would stand out like a sore thumb and as long as she didn't have to fight the muffled pawsteps didn't mean much. The sound of calling seabirds and their flapping wings came loudly to her ears, ever since she was blinded it was like her hearing and smell had received an upgrade. That was only fair since her sight had been one of the things she depended on ever since she was born.
Flap. Flap.
A seagull flew close by over her head, this proved to be a fatal mistake. Shetani judged the distance by just sound alone and leaped. Her fangs locked shut on the gull's wing where she pulled it down to the ground. The hapless creature only got out one plaintive cry before it was silenced by the hyena biting it's neck, breaking the hollow bone inside. Then, it was over.
The she-hyena gave an irritable snarl as she lifted her head and spit out feathers. Stupid birds... They take too long to pluck. She was too hungry to leave the carcass for someone else to find though so she began the annoying task of plucking the feathers from the bird. One large paw was on the bird's back as she braced against it while her strong muzzle locked onto a few feathers and began pulling them out. She repeated the task as more and more feathers began to come out but all the while she kept her ears pricked for any sign of approach. One couldn't be too careful...

Slice was a bit knew to the area, but simi new to city life. It had been one thing different in he's whole life that he had seemed so strongly to learn and get away from he's past. The past the seemed to haunt him everytime he slept and made him even more tired when he woke in the morning.
At the moment he was walking the sand beach away from the hard unpleasant pavement of the blacktop that if it was to hot would burn your paws to a crisp.
He was unware of anyone else being on the beach that day as he's paws shifted in the sand as he walked muffling the sound of he's paws hitting the ground.
He was hungry to so he was looking for an easy meal to sore hopefully some fish that had been caught by the waves and waved up to a little water pool deep enough for it to swim in.
So that was what he was lookign for as he was heading towards the rocky area of the beach where the waves meet the rocks to see if there was any fish in them.
Unware that there was a strange creature he never even seen near by.
He hadn't really been paying attention until he had caught the creatures strange scent in he's noise and rose he's head up slightly to look around for a moment.

There. The last feather had just been plucked from the bird's now-naked body and now the she-hyena was going to feast... well, not exactly feast but have a snack at least. Her mouth opened and she was about to take the first bite but something distracted her from the rich scent of gull. Her head lifted and involuntarily a warning growl started to form in her throat. The head with its bandanna looked around, trying vainly to see what had distracted her. The hyena placed herself over the carcass as her nose finally did what her ears and lack of eyes could not, a creature was identified. It was a canine. One of those filthy wannabe-hyenas! A full-throated snarl came to her throat as she tried to locate where the canine was... perhaps it was a wolf. It smelled a bit wilder than those damned dogs that she ran into.
Until the stupid thing made a noise so that she could identify where it was she could only gaze vaguely in its general direction, hoping that she wasn't completely looking off to the side. "What are you doin' here, you stupid dog? You better keep on walkin' 'cause there ain't no food here for you to eat!" With that, she lowered her head and deliberately took a bite of the gull, releasing the full scent of its blood and goodness. If she had eyes they would have been locked squarely onto the wolf with a glare but all she could do now was growl and lower her ears threateningly.

When Slice had finally saw the creature that he's nose had picked up he was a bit shocked at what he had seen. One he had no idea what it was and two it seemed blind to him.
Which he could understand why she seemed so defensive when she had heard him nearby and had lifted her head to search for him. She was farely good at looking in the direction he was in and when he saw she had a bird he licked he's lips slightly as he remembered the hunger that lurked inside of him and reminded him that he needed to eat.
He sighed slightly at the creature he was looking at as she snarled and growled at her and then called her a stupid dog.Which made him laugh slightly." Stupid dog"He repeated slowly with a smirk on he's face that she could not see." I might be a bit clumsy at times, but I am not stupid.Nor am I a dog"He said to her softly as to let her know he was of no threat, but what had got he's heart pumping harder in he's ears reminding him of he's hunger was when she tore into the bird and let the blood spill down onto the earth.
Oh how that smell lingered quickly into the air and had filled he's nose of the sweet sweet smell of the bird. He growled slightly in aggervating to what she had done and shook he's head as if trying to ingore the smell, but once he smelt it he could not ingore it.
"Oh don't worry"He muttered to the creature."I am not here to steal your food.I was going fishing...so...you can stop growling at me and relax...besides your more stalky then me and I am in no way looking for a fight even if it is for a bite to eat"He added to her kindly.

The canine's words appeased her slightly but she still growled at the animal though her muzzle turned to the exact direction that he was located. His voice helped her to find exactly where he was. "Whatever! I don't care what ya are! Dog, wolf, canine, it's all the same to me. You just better not get any funny ideas about my bird, that's all!" Her head plunged to the bird again as ate more of the creature. All around her the white and black feathers began to flutter about as the wind blew, one landed on her blood-soaked nose and stuck. Her head lifted again as she sneezed and allowed her ears to turn this way and that as she tried to locate the animal again.
"...Besides your more stocky then me and I am in no way looking for a fight even if it is for a bite to eat." Shetani gave a self-satisfied snort and a smug grin that told him she was pleased that he noticed her bulk. "You're damn right I'm 'stocky'. I can beat any animal that wants to come up and challenge me, so don't you forget it!" The she-hyena could see that she would have no trouble from this canine, he was docile though too much of that around a brute the her could prove to be a problem. For now though the female was happy to munch on her seagull without having to fight someone off of it.
Once again her head raised and she looked to where she thought the wolf would be, "So, you're a wolf ain't ya? I didn't know you guys sunk to eatin' fish, I thought that stuff was just for cats." The female was a little rough with "civil conversation" since that was what passed for normal and "kind" in her hyena society. She also wasn't too fond of the swimming creatures, she'd never been good at catching them since being blind made it practically impossible.

Slice smirked at her slightly as she tried to keep uo with where he was at on the beach as he had seemed to ingore her threats they didn't seem to bother him. Besides she was blind and he didn't want to mess with that.
"Hmm who knows something could"He said as he tilted he's head at her.He was curious of her since he never seen a hyena in he's life at all and had no idea what she was and he moved closer to hr slightly, but just being curious."So what are you?"He asked her since she knew he was a wolf, but what was she? This question bothered him however as he watched her eat the seagull.
Slice seemed to laugh again at what she had said."It's a varity of food that is what it is.A fish is a challenge, but it is high in vitimins that other animals can not give you. Besides my last two attempts didn't prove to be very useful to me and well....I rather go for something a bit more without legs...that is if ya don't mind"He said as he was a couple feet from her now and he sat down on the soft warm sand.
"Why does it matter what I hunt anyways....I'm not stealing from you so why should it matter.Besides..."He added" We're all trying to surive arn't we?'He asked her curiously."So maybe that is why for the hostility?"He asked her"Or is it something else bother you?"He added.

Shetani dipped her head to take more bites of the gull which gave the impression that she was ignoring him but in all reality she was listening to every word that he said. Vitamins? Pah! She had no use for stupid things like that, she just ate what her belly asked her to and nothing more. "Please yourself, wolfie, you can eat all the stinkin' fish you want. As for what I am, I'm a hyena. Bet you've never seen one of us before, eh?" She gave a whooping laugh and bent to finish the last of the gull. Her tongue ran once around her lips as she plopped her ear in the sand and scratched carefully behind one ear, no need to be careless and dislodge the bandanna now, was there?
Once she stopped scratching she gave a shrug and answered, "I don't care what you hunt, really. If you wanna eat cat-food then that's your problem not mine." Something else bothering her? What did he mean by that? No. There was nothing bothering her, life was peachy keen! It was perfect! Wandering the streets without her true clan because her stupid mother got jealous! A snarl came onto her face once more and rose to her paws. "It's none of your damn business if anything's botherin' me, you nosy cur! If anything was do you think I'd tell a weak mutt like you?" She was nearly shouting as she finished her short rant and turned away, walking down towards the waves. Her paws touched the edge of the surf as her face turned out towards the horizon, the title of her bulky shoulders, the angle of her head all showed proud defiance to life that had grown tougher ever since the day her mother attacked. "No... I'm not tryin' to survive. I'm tryin' to live! Live myself a fantastic life and I think I'm doin' pretty good for myself... yeah, better than those fools at the zoo... I've got my own clan and I'll come hunt you down one day, Zira..." The last bit was spoken to herself as she continued to stare unseeingly out over the waves. Her tirade was finished and the wolf would probably be confused but he had hit a sore chord in the female.
Quite suddenly she turned her head to where she though the wolf was. "What about you, wolfie? Do you just survive? Or do you live?" Her voice was harsh but that was usually how it always was. She wondered what his answer would be and if he would apologize for upsetting her? She hated apologies and she hated pity, it wasn't what she wanted. What she wanted was to live her life to the fullest and have her own clan, mate, and yes... maybe even cubs.

Slice stared at her for a moment when she had answered him."Yeah I never seen one perfer.Till recentily I never seen a dog either or knew what it was till it told me so"He said to her calmly and sighed when she said she didn't care what he ate.
"Hmmm it's food so it doesn't matter eally I would perfer a deer or rabbit...,but not at the moment"He said as he trailed off with the bad luck he had had with he's last two attempts to catch a deer or a rabbit. He landed himself in a bear trap with the first one which shown on he's back leg and with the second one he had hunted in the city and had a bared wire post fall on him and get him tangled up in it. So right now he figured the ocean couldn't do any worse then what he had already tried. So the rocks near the beach where there should be pools of water and hopefully a fish in it was he's next attempt at food.
Slice was then shocked by how defensive and upset she had gotten when he had asked her if there was something else bothering her. He had s scene for that and what he got he hand't expected her to lash out like that and get so upset like she did.
He sighed slightly as he walked over close to her still keeping he's distance. You could never be to sure about these things. He felt bad yes,but he figured she didn't want him to say he was sorry or show her pity. Besides it was probably the reason she was blind and wore a bandana around her eyes.
"Well I suspose you can say both"Slice said."I wouldn't mind finding friends and other stuff later on in my life.It would make up for the past that reacures in my dreams'He added"So It's a bit of both and life is a challenge, but I'm doing the best I can do...and I suspose it's the best it's going to get so I can not complain about such things.Just live my life the best I can and make the best of everything I do...even if it turns out to be a bad day.I can still make it out to be a positive one."He added" So....do you want the same thing I want....or do you wish to be alone?"He asked her as he hinted he didn't mind being her friend, but the way she talked about stupid canines and him being weak or whatever she added to that. He seriously doubted it.

Shetani grunted at his response, it wasn't a bad one and agreed with her ideals entirely. Contrary to popular belief she was a social beast and wanted nothing more than to live her life within a group and be accepted by others, hyenas were social creatures and she was no exception. If anyone just bluntly asked her to be their friend then she probably would tell them to "get lost" or something even harsher. As it was though this wolf wasn't half bad, he didn't apologize and beg to be forgiven like most others would have and he showed no pity... at least none that she could see. So, she reluctantly had to admit that she liked that.
"Well, wolfie, you gave a good answer. To tell you the truth it doesn't seem that we're that different. Except for the fact that I'm ten times stronger than you but that's nature's own doing." She gave a loud chilling laugh before cutting it off and becoming serious. "To tell you the truth us hyena's live in clans and ever since I 'left' my clan I've been a bit lonely. My own clan territory is rather empty, y'see." She felt like she should be angry and assert her dominance but this wolf was doing nothing to make her want to. He didn't show any pity, wasn't trying to make her submissive, and wasn't even making any retorts to her previous taunts. On this particular day that added up to a pretty amiable hyena. "What's this about your reoccurring dreams? Somethin' happen before you came to this hell-hole?" She splashed a front paw in the water as she turned her head once more to the crashing waves of the beach.

Slice had watched her movements still listened to what she had said."Yeah being alone can be very lonely.I am myself however I don't show it much...well I don't think I show it much"He added as he moved closer to her a bit hopeing she didn't mind.
"Yeah it's hard to be alone when all you know was being apart of something for some long till one day that something is gone makes it a bit hard"He said with a sigh as he lowered he's head slightly when she had asked him about he's reacurring dreams.
"There more like nightmares"Slice started as he glanced back up at her slightly."It was how our pack leader got killed...and the sight of her body in peices and blood and fur where we used to consider safe and home....I ran..."He added"I ran away from there that day....,but the memories and the sites had follwoed and now taunt me"He added as he lowered he's head again he sounded a bit sader then before, but he couldn't help it.It was something that as much as he tried he couldnt make that last image of he's leader disapear and he tried to drown it out by coming to this terrable city and it's terrable hard pavement away from the lush greens he was used to.

Shetani growled and shook her head, the sappy talk was gonna get to her. She needed some action or at least a change of scenery soon or she felt like her head was going to explode. "Ran? You can't just run from your problems all the time, you gotta fight! Do you even know what offed your leader or did you just run and not look back?" She gave a valiant snarl as she thought of a pride of lions that thought they were gonna muscle in on her old clan's territory. Sure, the overgrown housecats had killed a few of their number but the lions lost more than they gained. A satisfied grin came to Shetani's face at the memory, fighting was truly something to get your blood pumping and make you feel alive!
"Perhaps you should go back and confront whatever killed your leader and that'll end those dreams of yours... Better yet I could go and get whatever did that to your leader. I'll bring its carcass back to you so you can get your peace of mind, hmm? That sounds like a fair trade t'me." Shetani licked her lips at the thought of getting to fight some mysterious creature, how she loved the thrill of battle! "Or I could capture the animal and bring it back to you. Your call. You may not have the stomach for this violence though, do ya? Are you wolves even made to fight anything?"

Slice sighed and looked at her once more."I don't run from the problems anymore....just that really...did it for me"He added and seemed to smile slightly when she had offered to bring back the animal that had kileld he's leader back to him for him to kill or for her to kill. The thought did seem pleasent to him,but he had no idea where to find them at.
"It was a group of rouge wolves who had there way with her and tore her to shreads before anyone of the hunting party could get back to her. The last thing I heard was a painful howl echo throughout the land for help. I did my best to run as fast as I could to her,but it had been to lae and the sight was enough for me to just run away. I seen dead bodies before. Hell I ripped apart a few prey in my day,but never never anything like that...it just blew my mind. I suspose she had just gotten to old to defend herself anymore and that is why she died who knows."He added.
"After a few years of nothing, but war for your rich rich land then you kind of get sick of voilance and blood shread"He added a she looked at her.
"But hell if you offer to bring those savages to me...we could rip them apart together....it would be something they greatly desever...attacking her like that and useing use hunting to there advantage how dare them"He growled slightly with the thought in he's head.
"Sure would like that damn image to go away of her and be repalced of a better memory of her....the mothery kind"He added."She had a way of accepting others into her pack even if they didn't seem to belong."He added before he moved clser to her.
"Sorry for being so close, but I never seen anything like you and your scent is getting my nose a moving"He said with a laugh as he was asking if he could get a better sniff, but hoped it wasn't being rude.

The she-hyena nearly snorted. A gang attack? What a dishonorable way to fight. Sure, she was an assassin but it was just her versus another animal and they usually had the chance to fight back so you couldn't even compare the two really. "Blood shed is somethin' that I never grow tired of." She gave a grim smile and turned straight towards the male wolf. Anticipation of what this promised was written in every line of her large muscles and every hair of her pelt.
"Haha! I like you! You're not like most of the sniveling canines I've met in this place." She was clearly excited at the prospect of hunting down the wolves and bringing justice to the wolf's alpha. "I usually work for a price but for you, wolfie, I'll make an exception and do this for free. It's been so long since I've had a taste of some real action." The sand had been muffling the male's steps towards her but it was hard to ignore his sharper scent and breathing that sounded closer.
"The hell are you doing?" The female growled a warning but held her ground. Her scent? Her scent smelled just like any other hyena's scent! She wanted to bite at the male's muzzle for getting in her personal bubble but she held herself back. This was probably the first time that the guy had ever gotten a sniff at a hyena. Let him have his fun. "Happy now? Next time you try that I'll rip your throat out!" The hyena took a pace back to distance herself from the male after he'd sniffed her. Truth be told, she wasn't too comfortable with others being in her personal space unless they were close friends which this guy wasn't.

Slice laughted at her at her reaction to what he had don'e"Fair enough I was just curious is all. It's not ever day a wild wolf runs into something it's never seen before. Then again I seen a lot of stuff in this city and others I never seen before.Like dogs and maned wolf's who looks like a gaint fox and other like creatures, but your different...so was just curious"He said and smirked at her.
"Well I will greatly appshate the help and I wouldn't mind a little taste of them either.Even though I have grown tired of it for dealing with it for so many years, but if it brigns justic to the her then I'll go to the ends of the earth to find her killers and do worse then them"He said as he let her get her space."So you going to keep calling me wolf or are ya going to ask for my name....it's Slice by the way...whats yours?"He asked her curiously.
"Hope ya don't mind me being around..."Slice told her as he's stomach growled and reminded him of why he was here for and he laughted slightly."Oh....and that"He added as he shifted he's weight in the sand to sit down as he glanced back over towards the rocks wondering and hpping there was a few fish in the pools from the ocean. He was starving.

"Haven't you ever heard the expression 'curiosity killed the cat' or in this case 'whacked the wolf'? But I know what you mean... Though personally I haven't seen anything." She gave a loud whoop of laughter before sitting her spotted rear in the sand.
"That's the spirit! I promise it'll make ya feel better and possibly give your alpha's ghost some peace... Not that I believe in that magical hoo-ha and superstition... I'm just sayin'." Shetani could tell that the wolf had taken a pace back and she appreciated it.
Now when he mentioned his name she gave a frown though this was covered partially by her bandanna and partially by her wild forelock and probably not visible at all to the wolf. She'd never heard a name as odd as Slice ever in her life. All of the hyenas in her clan had been named after something sure the females weren't named after very nice things like she was called "devil" and her mother "hate" but that was only because it was a wish to help them grow tough. The males were given their own sweeter names like "kind" and "sweet" and look how they turned out! Pansies all of them! She was surprised these male canines didn't turn out the same way... maybe their nonsensical names helped prevent that. "Slice? That's a weird name, why'd your Mama give it to you? To get ya made fun of?" She shook her head but continued on hardly waiting for a response. "I'm called Shetani, means devil. That's how us hyenas name our girls 'cause we're all tough as nails!" Her voice was proud and her chest poked out slightly as she spoke.
Shetani shrugged at Slice's words. "It's your life and your paws. Go where you want... So long as you're not tryin' to cross paths with me and rub me the wrong way, I don't care." Her sensitive ears picked up the rumbling in his belly and she gave a smirk. "Been here talkin' ta me and still haven't found any cat-food for your belly, eh?" Her head turned slightly to the side as her right ear tilted back behind her listening. After a moment of assessing with her ear and nose she turned back to Slice. "Why don't ya go look in those pools? I think there's a couple of fish there that you could catch." Why was she helping? Even she didn't know, perhaps because this guy had gotten on her good side and she wanted to help feed him after she hadn't shared her seagull with him.
