The crows words of calling her pampered hit her last cord, she got up from the nest and spread her wings, hitting the crow in the face. Rosa jumped off of the branch and onto the ground. She stays there for a few minutes, sobbing and sighing from memories of her owner. Her tantrum didn't last very long. But the reason for that is because she came across her sister after running away from the tree that contained the nest of the crow. She had not remembered to bring her book along her tantrum run, and she still does not remember it as she stands in front of her sister either. Right now was to dramatic to remember a lousy book. The body of her sister's corpse lay in front of her red eyes. It was her sister, the only shinning thing in the fountain in the center of Respects Abandoned. What will she do now that her search is completed. Now that she is dying slowly and now that she has ran off with an embarrassing touch of humiliation. Her life is now lonely: no annoying sister to run off to, no more writing about how well life is going as she is on her own. She has lost her mother and now she has lost her sister who was torn to bits and thrown into a fountain to what looks like a crime scene of a canine. "KRAKARAK!!" She please as she falls to the ground dramatically as her limp wings lay out on the ground. She is panting, crying, and scared. Rosa would not have found Iggy if she had not had that tantrum from Krak's nest. What if she had never found Iggy. She would have been more sane if she hadn't found her. But now that she has, she will never forget the days she and Iggy use to fuss, love, and cry together. Word Count| 320 KEY:- "i'm talking" #3c992f

Krakarak could tell that his words hat hit the sensitive cords within the macaw when she stood up. He didn't predict that she would dare hit him across the face though. It didn't hurt it just irritated him greatly that she would purposely --it had to be purpose because the bird knew her wingspan-- hit him in the face with her wings. He cawed angrily and prepared to swipe at her with his own wings but she had already leaped from the nest and glided to the ground. "CAW CAW CAW!""[/b] He croaked after her while she lay sobbing on the ground. He couldn't care less what she did now. He was livid after being struck across the face. How dare she do such a thing?! After he'd tried to help her to. Sure, he'd had an ulterior motive but he was still helping! Now he'd never get his talons on that beautiful, shiny... book? His dark eyes had just managed to leave the green figure of the distraught bird to look over at the nest. Lying there was the shiny book. "Krakaw! What have we here?"[/b] He flitted over to the book and stroked it with one of his feet before opening it. He saw a lot of strange squiggles, like the ones left by humans when they were trying to tell each other things. Krakarak had always known what these squiggles were for but he had never learned to understand them, which was probably good because if he'd read the word "crow" that Rosaki had written about him he'd have been quite angry all over again. As it was though he just looked through the book and realized what it meant exactly. Rosaki could read and write while he could not. She also no longer had her book, he did. Obviously she'd want the book back but after her little tantrum he wasn't going to part with it so easily. Who knew maybe he'd want more than lessons on reading and writing? Perhaps it was time to find his little runaway. He picked the book up by the leather strap connected to its spine, with it secured in one of his talons he took to the air. Soaring over the store grounds he searched for the missing macaw. For a while he found nothing except for something that tickled the part of his mind reserved for instinctual behavior. A carcass was around somewhere, when he'd found Rosaki perhaps he could go for the carrion but for now he'd continue searching. "KRAKARAK!!"[/i] His name came pleading from the ground in the direction of the carcass. He knew who's voice it was too so when he arrived and landed on the head of the fountain it was no surprise that he saw Rosaki sprawled on the ground. His eyes looked at the carcass to see a mangled bird with the same coloration as Rosaki. This must have been her sister. "The crows must have turned on her."[/b] He said callously. He turned his head to the side to view her more clearly, his eyes shined cunningly and coldly as he watched her sadness. For a few minutes he allowed her to mourn but finally he spoke, "It appears you ran for naught. Krak Krak! Perhaps you should not have ran to see her at all, maybe it would have been better for you..." His words would appear to be for condolence but when he continued on it was obvious they weren't. "But if you hadn't I wouldn't have gotten this." Here he paused to life the diary in the air and tap it with his thick black beak. A sly smile appeared on his beak because he knew he had the upper claw. She was weak and distraught while he was fit and ready, the female couldn't take the book if she wanted to. He could just fly away and leave her to die. He wondered if she would realize that? Key:- "i'm talking"

The burning of mourn flew through her body as she lay limp on the ground, once she called for Krakarak, she hoped for the best. Having an angry crow coming towards you is not the best idea to call for them. But when he arrived, a relief like sigh surged through her body. But what interrupted the relief sigh is what the crow had shinning in his talons. He had Rosa's precious diary lodged in his claws. She gasps in surprise. She forgot her diary! She never forgets her diary! But that was a lie, of course. She looks up at him pitifully, "M-my book. Why do you have my book?" If she were to say the word diary the crow would most likely automatically try to read it, as nosy as crows were. She lifts up her wings, trying to fly up towards him, but fails, of course. The crow seemed like he wanted something in order for her to have it back. "Please take pity on me Krakarak....it's the only thing I have left in my life...." And that was the truth. Rosa is now alone in her own world. No one is left from her family. Her owner is dead, she does not know where most of her flock went, her mother died, and now her last family member, Iggy, is torn to pieces in a fountain, dead. Why does death have to go through my family... She starts to sob again, curling her head and making herself a helpless wreck. Being in such a condition she is in, an hour of sobbing would mean death, so 3 minutes of laying there would help her calm down. ------------------------------------------ After three minutes, she opened her crusted eyes and looked at the bright sun, it was so intense her eyes burned. It felt like she was asleep for a whole day, but it was only three minutes of closing her eyes. She looks up at the crow, he still had her book and was still standing there. What do he want with my book anyways..... She thought, standing up with shaking legs. Word Count| 354 KEY:- "i'm talking" #3c992f

When she attempted to fly at him Krakarak didn't even move. Even if she had managed to get to him --which he knew she couldn't-- she'd be no match for him. After all, she needed him to get better in her state of extreme sickness. So her first question was answered in a croaking chuckle but other than that he chose to remain silent while she soaked in her state of helplessness. He had all the time in the world while she lay weakening and hapless. "Oh, I'll take pity. Don't you worry..." He watched as the macaw's eyes closed while she lay on the ground. Ah, he felt like a master of fate on his perch. He sat with all the cards in his claws while she lay completely at his mercy. He loved it! Power was something that he deserved to have; as a raven, the most noble of birds, it was his birthright! So he was perfectly happy to wait the few minutes while she rolled in her misery. Finally, her eyes came open as she rose slowly rose to her shaky legs. "Glad to see you're awake again. Krak Krak! Now, if you'd like to have your lovely book back then you're going to have to do something for me." He stopped speaking for a moment to use his beak and claws to maneuver the book into an open position whereupon he pointed to the squiggles (also known as "words") on the page. "I have reason to believe that you wrote down these squiggles. Which means you can read like humans can. Krakaw! You will teach me to read and write." He spoke in his classic style which was in a croaking voice with an air of arrogance. He stopped speaking to close the book and give his words a chance to soak in. When he stopped messing with the book he lifted his head up and stared impudently at Rosaki a moment before speaking again. "Krak! You will also help me out around the nest when you are better. You see, I run a sort of business with the other animals. I keep up to date on the news and they come to ask for advice and information. Krak Krak! However, they're a bit bad at coming at all times of the night and sometimes they disturb me even when their form of payment is unacceptable." He paused to clack his beak in irritation. "This is where you come in. Krak Krak! You will help me on all the news and decide which beasts I'll help and which beasts I shouldn't. If they come at a poor time or have unacceptable payment you will turn them away. Sort of an assistant. Krak! A 'secretary', isn't that what the humans call it?" Now he was finished speaking so he started to preen his chest feathers. He wondered what her reply would be. He hoped it was "yes" but then again she couldn't very well say no. Key:- "i'm talking"

An apprentice? She stares at him to make up her mind. Finally, she bobs her head, "You won't learn much...I'm not a teacher.." She sighed and then puts her attention back to her sister. Anger grew through her and she flaps her wings, "You are talking about learning to read and write when obviously I'm in a crisis! I'm sorry, crow, but I have other things to do then halt for you! I am in front of a demise who just happens to be my sister and you are wanting me to teach you?! I DON'T WANT TO! EVEN FOR MY DIARY!"What Rosa didn't know is that she said the word 'diary' and not 'book'. Giving away the fact that she was hiding it from him ever since he approached. "And that is not how you treat a lady! I HAVE FEELINGS! Unlike yourself, you're dead to me now. GO AWAY, CROW!" She could not help herself from such rudeness. Her patients grew thin and all she can think about is her sister now. She weeps again, curled in a ball of feathers. Why my sister? How could it have been my sister? I can't handle death anymore. It's too unbearable. Why me?Word Count| 205 KEY:- "i'm talking" #3c992f

He thought he'd won right then and there. His mouth even opened to give her reassuring words about her teaching skills but before he could even get the words out she had an outburst. It was bad enough that she was yelling at him but when she said the taboo word "crow" he nearly lost it. Krakarak's talons tightened on the diary --he'd heard the word "diary" before, humans wrote secrets in them or something-- and his feathers puffed out to make him look larger and more threatening. How dare she say he had no feelings? How dare she have the audacity to yell at him? And how dare she call him, one of the most attractive ravens in the world, a crow?! "Kraaaaaaa..." A low, threatening croak bubbled from his throat. His eyes were alight with rage as he gazed down at her. He flapped his wings as he prepared to fly down and deal out some punishment but he stopped himself mid flight and instead landed down on the ground beside her. His feathers remained puffed out while he stared daggers at her but he refrained from physically attacking the poor macaw; instead of using his claws for harm he used his words. "For the last time I'm not a damn crow! I am a raven! A raven! Kraaaak! You nut-brained, human-petted, overly-dramatic parrot!" He didn't know if she hated being called outside of her species but for the sake of their argument he hoped she did. "I have been more than amiable to you! If I was really a filthy crow that had no feelings I'd have waited until you died and ate you! Maybe you'd have been more use to me then than you are now! At least I'd have had more energy to do the tasks that you asked me to do! Krak Krak! The tasks that you asked me to do! I could have been back at my nest relaxing but instead I've been out here chasing after you, you stupid pet! Krak!" Here he stopped to make a noise halfway between a snort and a laugh. "But no more! I'm through with you! Through! I have your shiny diary so that's all that matters. Krak Krak! You shall truly be dead to me within a day... maybe less! And I will laugh when the crows come and find your body! Maybe I shall lead them to it! KrakKrak!" With that he flapped his wings and flew off to a nearby tree with the diary still clasped in his talons. It seemed as if he would keep his words of laughing at her when the carrion eaters came. ! Rosaki's heart stopped when the crow became more angrier than she imagined. All the apologies boiled in her, she cawed out, "No wait! I am sorry! Please do not leave! I need you!" Rosaki became more dramatic the she thought. The crow's observation was correct, she was pampered and she was being too dramatic. Although, the crow did need to learn some respect while a bird moaned over family. "Maybe you are right. Besides..." she sighed with a break, "cry nor fight will bring her back.... you are all I have left...." Rosaki hesitated. The crow was probably going to predict what she was going to say, but of course she said it, "I am... sorry." Rosaki saw the book with the crow, "Krakarak, may I please have my book back? I will be your assistant... but I do not want you near my book ever again..." She looked up at him in the tree. Maybe it is time I give respect to him.... She thought as she walked up to the tree and sat below him. Word Count| 177 KEY:- "i'm talking" #3c992f

Her first words were met with a an irritable huff by the raven. If she expected to start appeasing him she had better do better than that. A distinct apology was what he wanted from her; with how she behaved it needed to be a really good one. He turned his head to the side as if he were ignoring her but in reality he was listening to every one of her words and he was liking what was coming out. "I am... sorry." His head turned back to her as his beady black eyes stared haughtily down at her. That was perfect, exactly what he wanted to hear. He said nothing though and waited until more words came out. How she spoke about not wanting him near her book rubbed him the wrong way but he decided to ignore that for the moment. Instead he took two steps forward, raised his wings, and glided down to the ground beside the colorful macaw. The book was still clutched in his talons as he began to strut in a circle around the bird, sizing her up. Finally he stopped right in front of her with his dark eyes staring straight into hers. "You will be forgiven this time, Rosaki. Just don't let that outburst happen again. Krak Krak! Or I will leave you. As for your book, it is now mine until I feel you deserve to have it back which you will prove to me by being a good assistant. Krak! Now, how does that sound? Make sure you answer wisely." Rosaki's guilt hung on her head as she looked down at the ground to Krakarak's boastful words. It replayed in her mind of what it would be like if she could have her family again, her friends, her mother, her siblings...her owner. Krakarak was right, like always, she must choose wisely on her decision. What she has noticed is that she herself has not given Krak a chance to prove himself, nor herself either. Rosaki's trust grew weaker, but what else is a sickly, mourning hen going to do when her book, her life, and her sanity on the line - but of course to accept the helpful offer. Rosa bobbed her head and swayed on her legs a yes and an apology. "Please don't make me regret this, Krakarak. It means a lot to me with this book you have in your talons." Rosaki looked back at the carcass of her sister and then back at Krakarak, "I'm as broken as broken can get." Her guilty eyes stared strait through him and her feathers fluffed in frustration. "Well. I guess we go rummage the stores for supplies I need to help teach you read. Where do we start from here?" Rosaki flapped her wings but only skipped across the ground. She kept her red eyes on her book at all times, hoping he would feel sorry for her and give it back. Word Count| 235 KEY:- "i'm talking" #3c992f

Krakarak peered down at the bedraggled macaw, his eyes were completely unsympathetic. In his mind the creature had brought this whole situation down on herself, his requests weren't unreasonable. She was just too arrogant and self-centered to adhere to them. Though if the raven only knew that he was truly the self-centered and arrogant one... He clacked his beak together once before speaking, "Don't worry, my assistant, you will regret nothing so long as I am pleased with your work. Krak!" His beak reached down to clean the glossy feathers of his chest before he fixed her with a keen eye once more. "For now, we will focus on your healing and you will only have to teach me a little. I will bring books back to you and you will tell me if they are good for learning things. Krakaaw!" He looked down at the precious book locked tightly in his talons and on his face there was a smug grin. "This book... this diary, is precious to you. Don't worry, it will be well kept and even when you teach me to read I won't delve into your secrets." He walked a few steps away and said one last sentence without even turning around, "As long as you don't make me angry by letting slip that you think I'm a crow. Krak!"Krakarak flapped into the air and hovered there while he looked back at the female. "Now, I will go look for suitable books but you must head back to the nest. Krak Krak! Do you need help getting back there?" He would love nothing more than to go back to the nest himself but for now he had words to learn and would settle for searching for books. There was also medicine he needed collect for Rosaki, something for her fever and maybe something else to help her sleep, losing someone close could be a tough thing. Key:- "i'm talking"

The macaw bloated her feathers and looked up at the sun with her red eyes. Anticipation, worry, frustration, sorrow, and disquiet feelings swelled from bellow her ragged self. The sun burned and cracked in space and the clouds casually glided in the rays, basking in it's heat. Wind blew slowly around the two birds as they stare at each other, haltingly calming the dramatic conversation. Chirps of finches, caws of crows, and barks of dogs vibrated through the mall. She was gradually regretting becoming one with the mall and her position. Rosa replied, clacking her beak softly, "Please only call me Rosaki, it makes me more comfortable than being called Assistant." The intention was to become comfortable with the new "job". Her crippled anger was still boiling inside from the circumstances. The bright macaw looked down at her gray toes and listened to the 'raven''s words. For a second, the raven seemed to actually care for her. But, of course, the logic of this raven was mostly intended on the way she will teach him, not how she would feel. But in the beginning, he started with a kind heart. Maybe that silver covered stone heart actually shown a glimpse of warm light? "Yes, yes of course. Well, you can drop me off at the library around here and you search for some medication, that could work too, correct?" She slowly blinked her eyes and scanned around the mall for a library. Wasting such an advantage should never be unresolved. A book store, in a mall, what is there not to understand. It is there, there will always be one. Just because she has not been here does not mean she can't find something to read. A book does not always teach the uneducated. Maybe just a sign, or a pamphlet, or a lousy menu from a small restaurant. Her mind focused directly on her shiny leather diary that was still in the black claws of the raven. The thought of him diving into her diary after learning how to read - using her - swarmed in her little mind. The macaw bobbed her head and listened once again. "Oh, thank you. Thank you so much," the macaw unexpectedly dropped into the raven's back with her head and beak, "That means a lot to me, Krakarak...." She moved her head away from his back with a flap of her wings. She looked back down at her toes and further listened to him. "Yes, Krakarak." She said shyly. She watched the raven flap his great wings, feathers floated lazily to the ground and rested on the scorching cement. "Uh, yes. I will need help getting up to the nest. I am sorry for being a burden and all." her red eyes drifted to the ground, along with her head. She looked back up at Krakarak with a pitiful expression. Word Count| 478 KEY:- "i'm talking" #3c992f

The sounds of other animals came to the bird as he stood before the macaw with not the slightest bit of pity on his face. He wasn't a completely heartless fox but when he had been rubbed the wrong way he came darn near close. He started completely disregard Rosaki's suggestion of not being called "assistant" but he decided that the request was a reasonable one and as such he simply nodded and said, "Fine, Rosaki. I will not actively call you my assistant but don't forget what you are... Krak Krak!" His chest puffed out at having finally won the "war" with the stubborn macaw. Her suggested idea was better than his. They both could be doing something productive at the same time. "Yes, that would work just fine. While you are looking for appropriate practice material I can look for medicine for you. Krak!" Now he fell to looking over the macaw's physical condition. He highly doubted she could fly to the books which was the quickest way to get to there. So, how was he supposed to get her there? He studied her and figured because of her poor health that maybe he could carry her to the library and perhaps even back to the nest afterwards, their sizes weren't too far from each other's anyway. What Rosaki did next surprised him, her head and beak landed on his back in a gesture that wasn't unfamiliar to him. It was something that his mother used to do when he was a hatchling, it evoked a pleasant fargone feeling in him and thus he didn't get angry and curse at the female. His feathers fluffed a bit and a croaking noise sounded in his throat but it wasn't an angry noise, it was simply a sound he made when thinking or remembering something difficult. "Yes... well... you won't be a burden for long. Krak Krak! Don't you worry about that! As for the nest we'll get you there in due time, after we get you to the library. I believe I can carry you there. Krakaw!" His shook his head and fluffed his feathers to rid himself of the feeling that Rosaki had woken in him. Now he eyed the female keenly before fluttering into the air and flapping over her back. He lowered his legs and tried grabbing on either side of her body gently with his strong talons. If she was ready he would take off, if he could lift her of course. Key:- "i'm talking"

The green macaw glared at the black raven with the sun bouncing off her red eyes. The tan illuminated the black pupil of her eyes. She clacked her beak, "Yes..." Please do not remind me....Krakarak. Rosaki's heart bounced off walls wanting a disparate advantage to disappear before the eyes of the world. Rosaki looked back down into the raven's black-whole eyes. An imaginary smile cracked her porcelain black beak. She had thought of a better idea even after the egotistical raven had suggested his own ideas. Although, she did not think it thoroughly. Since she is a battered, sickly, and weak bird with no physical condition for flying, she should walk instead. She watched the raven think, every expression went across his face. She softened and fell against him. She waited for his response, which she didn't expect coming from a high-strung bird. His reaction actually made her feel grateful, maybe a spark of help? When Krakarak spoke, she was not ready for his reply. Carry me? How? I will just get tangled in his feathers and it would not possibly work AT ALL. She took a breath in and put her head to the ground, thinking. She then rose, with a confused look in her eyes, "How will that be possible? The only way you could carry me is with your talons which can easily go through my soft skin. Or even worse, pluck the last feathers I have. You need to think this out before we even try to attempt a dare devil's duty." She hesitated, ”Maybe we can walk there, instead? To the bookstore and everywhere else? The only thing I really need help with is getting to that nest of yours. All the rest I can do by beak. I've done it all before!” She smiled in her eyes and puffed her chest. ”It’s okay, actually, I can deal with myself.” She was trying to give him less stress, since she complains most the time. She looks up from the ground and closes her eyes, thinking of the beginning of yesterday. A musky air wake-up call to the sun beaming through the dusty cottage window. Throwing her body on the point of her beak with excitement to write in her leather strap diary. With boredom, she entertained herself by writing a small poem, which wasn't a success. Rosa dozed off slowly. In the morning we shall rise with our hands and smite, high to the heavens above. Bring forth your finest horse and men. We bring you the gift of eternity and a burden with. Thou shalt never have relief of death, for death is the burden of eternity. Rosaki gasped and her body shook like a leaf. Her head looked at Krakarak, alarmed and to the point of weeping. ”W-W-Why?!” Her throat tightened and soon began to burn. Her body wrapped it’s imaginary ropes around her small brittle bones. Rosaki was going through an anxiety attack, not the first. After the death of her owner, she would have random anxiety attacks all-of-a-sudden. ”K-K-Krakarak…..” She stares at him intently and her body moved instinctively for him. She put her head into his chest and choked the last words before his comfort, ”I-I….I-I’m scared…..” Word Count| 549 KEY:- "i'm talking" #3c992f

Krakarak gave an exasperated huff but allowed the macaw her little victory, he would not carry her. These house-pampered birds were always so high-maintenance, why couldn't they be easy to please like ravens? How he missed the company of his own kind though he would admit --not that he was conceited in any way, gods forbid-- that he was the fairest and most intelligent of all the ravens. He allowed the macaw to even lean upon him though if was a strange thing... he hardly ever allowed others to touch him. It annoyed him to have others giving physical contact but with Rosaki, her pretty feathers and different eyes made the physical contact less annoying, it was almost even enjoyable... almost. [li] "Fine. Krakaw! We will walk to the places we need."The large black bird was ready to go and took a few steps forward in the direction of the bookstore but when he turned to look back at the female his head tilted quizzically. Why was the female still standing there and shaking? Was she sick with some incurable disease? The raven contemplating leaving right then and there to spare himself of some foreign house-bird illness but his brain quickly deciphered the real reason of her sudden illness. It was an anxiety attack. He had seen such things in a few of his patients though out in the wild a sudden anxiety attack could be a death sentence. Well, as long as the female was able to teach him what he wanted before being picked off that was fine with him... and yet... Rosaki took a few hesitant in his direction though her eyes stared so intently at him that he was sure she could see his soul. It made him uneasy being stared at in such a fashion and as such his instincts nearly made him fly away. However, Krakarak wasn't one to let himself be completely controlled by instinct so he stood there while Rosaki came for him. Anxiety attacks... what did he usually tell his patients to do for them? Now the female was right in front of him with her head on his chest. ”I-I….I-I’m scared…..” A strange feeling like a thousand gnats were flying around in his stomach made him frown. What was this? Why did he feel so strange when this female touched him? No one ever created any effect on him.. well, except for annoyance but this feeling wasn't annoyance. What was it? The feeling made him extend a wing and put it over her back in a reasurring way --well, that was what he told his patients to do to their loved ones-- and it also made him say, "No need to be afraid. Krak! Nothing will happen while I am here with you." So strange, he didn't understand. Key:- "i'm talking"

Rosaki gasped for air with her eyes wide open and shaking in the feathers of her enemy. She stared and froze solid when he put his wing around her body and spoke. Those words...sounded emotional....like....real words that meant a true meaning. They were, perfect for writing. The macaw stopped shaking and backed away with the scared look still stained on her face. I need to write that down... "Krakarak, please give me my book if you want me to relax. It will alleviate my anxiety to write." Her throat stiffened and her body loosened. This was the feeling of Rosaki before she bursts into a feather-ball of emotion. Her eyes teared and her feathers raised, revealing her gray skin. It was only seconds then she let go of herself. She couldn't wait for Krakarak. Rosa, like normal, curled herself in a ball and held herself quietly. Death....death. "No....noo...." Death....eternity...death. "No, no, no....no! NO! NO, NO!" The ball of feathers spread herself out rapidly, feathers blew around. It was the same scene as before when her feathers flew when she and Krakarak met. But the scene this time was sad, no elegance involved. A beauty forever cursed by mourn. Rosaki screamed "no" in desperation and fell onto her back. Her small head hit the floor and she hugged her talons up to her chest. Krakarak doesn't know... why I am sad. He doesn't understand. A writer's mind. Why? Ideas constantly flow and stop. It drives me mad. Meanwhile she discusses in her head, her body lay still on the cold cement floor. Her eyes never blinked as almost she were dead. She breathed slowly as a calming relief.
